Greetings from the UK, ACEE candidates. I’m here to tell you about my ACEE journey. The day I met Dr. Galwankar, to casually discuss my future career prospects, is the landmark moment that began my epic journey in emergency medicine. I joined ACEE and bought my first hard copy of Tintinalli’s Emergency Medicine that very day. The FACEE curriculum set me on a disciplined reading regime. Within the first couple months, I had completed the ATLS, ACLS, PALS (life support courses) and an Emergency Ultrasound course. INDUSEM helped me connect to a national and international EM network. I also successfully interviewed for the UK MTI program in my first INDUSEM. Though this wasn’t to be because of technical issues, the next year, with the help of my FACEE credentials, I interviewed successfully for another overseas project. Sans an MD/DNB degree, FACEE provided me a pathway to working in the UK, where I successfully completed my MRCEM. I now work as a registrar in the A&E in the North East region, presently working towards the FRCEM degree. None of this would have been possible without ACEE. At a time when emergency medicine is still in its developmental stages, with many unsanctioned courses making false promises, and unrecognized degrees touting borrowed credibility, FACEE led me through a straightforward path with achievable targets, and veritable outcomes. My personal success story is only one of several examples of the success of the FACEE model in creating Emergency Physicians. I vouch for it with confidence and am happy to offer guidance to any future candidate who is a part of this ACEE family.

I am an ACEE Faculty who graduated the FACEE Faculty development program.
I went through all the reading materials and tests diligently, honestly and systematically. The well designed modules made me aware of strategies to approaching Emergency Patients. The Board Review Course NEMBRIC is a comprehensive path to revising all that a candidate has read. The systematic approach has made me disciplined to a point that I read of Tintinalli Daily.
As Head of an MCI Recognized Department of Emergency Medicine with MD Residents I recommend that every Faculty committing to being an Academic EM Faculty should do FACEE because as faculty we need the confidence and the knowledge to teach Emergency Medicine. I was a primary MD in Medicine but EM is very different. Residents are like children and they learn what we teach them. FACEE changed me and will change you too.
If we provide Quality Education our Students will go on to provide Quality Care and somewhere some life will be saved.

I was the Charter Fellow of Academic College of Emergency Experts in Pediatric Emergency Medicine (FACEE-PEM) in 2014.
FACEE made me understand the lacunae that existed in the structured management of pediatric emergency patients in India. We as Pediatricians have to be aware of the core difference between Emergency Medicine and Critical Care. Emergency Physicians are trained to care for surgical, medical neonatal and any emergency which walks in through the Emergency Department door. Actions are taken in seconds and the pathology differs on every bed. This is way different than critical care. As a Pediatrician I am now very confident in managing complex trauma and pediatric orthopedic emergencies. Suturing, Fracture Reduction, Chest Tubes etc come easy to me now.
I was already a MD in Pediatrics but the process of becoming a Fellow with Monthly readings, tests and review courses made me more disciplined, knowledgeable and confident. I am now very skilled in doing point of care diagnostic emergency sonograms and also emergency sedation. I can run a pediatric trauma alert and manage pediatric toxic exposures.
The Fellowship of the College helped me in publishing landmark papers on Academic PEM and Management of Pediatric Fever in the ED.
Academics Alpha is what I call this High Quality Productive work as a Fellow of ACEE. I call upon my Pediatric and EM Colleagues to become a Fellow of ACEE.

I am the 2nd batch of MD in Emergency Medicine from AIIMS, New Delhi. It was a tough call as the guidance into the specialty was sparse and there were no seniors to look up to, for mentorship. I was fortunate to be mentored by the gurus of Emergency Medicine themselves: Prof Praveen Aggarwal and Prof Sanjeev Bhoi at AIIMS, ND. They introduced me to the ideology and vision of INDUSEM and Academic College of Emergency Experts in India (ACEE). I enrolled for Fellowship of the Academic College (FACEE) during my residency and was immensely benefitted by the structured examination model and thorough coverage of Emergency Medicine as a subject. FACEE model is very effective and fruitful for subject learning and helps physicians in training to be at par with required knowledge to practice the specialty.
Joining the Academic College of Emergency Experts in India has been of great value as it the only organization which is striving hard to develop academic emergency medicine in the country. It has an elite membership and leadership from across India, the ones who have authentic and deep understanding of Emergency Medicine as a subject. The leaders in ACEE are visionaries who are striving to improve emergency patient care, the right way. Unlike some groups who claim to improve the specialty using shortcuts and unfair means, the leadership at Academic College diligently disseminates the mantra of ‘Do no Harm in Emergency Medicine’ as there are no shortcuts to Quality.
ACEE developed a new perception about Emergency Medicine in me as I interacted with the leaders across the world in the INDUSEM and WACEM International Summits. I was awarded with the “Saksham Chhatra Paritoshik” in 2016. I got an opportunity to be a part of WHO-AIIMS initiative for improving emergency healthcare in primary care settings and visited far eastern states like Arunachal Pradesh for this noble cause. I have organized various workshops and sessions aimed at introducing the concept of Emergency Medicine to undergraduates across various medical colleges and institutes in India. Most notable of them has been the Emergency Medicine interactive Quiz (EM-iQ) which has gained popularity among the undergraduates at large. I have a keen interest in medical simulation and have conducted simulation workshops in KMC, Manipal over last 3 years. I am also a part of the EMA Simulation Academia taskforce, which was brought together in 2018. Emergency Medicine Association in India (EMA) was founded in 2015 under the banner of ACEE and INDUSEM. I was entrusted with the responsibility of handling the Secretariat in the North zone, covering the states of Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Union Territory of Chandigarh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and National Capital Territory of Delhi. Under the mentorship of Dr Sagar Galwankar, I organized the Annual National Emergency Medicine Conference, EMINDIA2017, with a unique Case-based learning model, which engrossed the delegates and participants. This was soon followed by World Academic Congress in Emergency Medicine, WACEM 2017 at Colombo, Sri Lanka, which was attended by Emergency Medicine leaders across the globe. Along with the Indian leaders from EMA, I was entrusted with the responsibility for running emergency nursing workshop at WACEM2017. I also had the privilege to speak on an international platform during the ‘EMA Townhall’ on OB-GYN emergencies during the same congress. Through ACEE-AIIMS banner, I was also selected to be a part of the 14th International Trauma systems and MCS Organisation Course in Israel in 2017, which had participation from 20 diverse countries. It was a life time experience and greatly enhanced my enthusiasm towards emergency preparedness and system development. The personal and professional connections made therein shall be very fruitful in years to come.
These and many more opportunities wait for someone who is genuinely interested in the specialty. Academic College of Emergency Experts in India with AIIMS, New Delhi as the headquarters, provides the right platform for visibility to the competent aspirants. At the same time it grooms them with ‘authentic’ training and self-evaluation, as there are no shortcuts to success. National Emergency Medicine Board Review in India Course (NEMBRIC) is an exhaustive and comprehensive 5-days course, diligently conducted by the ACEE faculty every year. It is a part of training for FACEE aspirants and covers the length and breadth of academic emergency medicine, providing in depth understanding of the subject. The Academic College of Emergency Experts in India aims to create not just good emergency physicians, but Great Emergency Physicians who can lead the path of academic emergency medicine in the country.
We are witnessing interesting turn of events in Emergency Medicine in India as more legitimate and authentic certified physicians (MD/DNB) are joining the pool of care providers. Many residency programs in the country are in infancy and striving for improving their academic teaching in formative years. With a very few academic leaders countrywide, the residents may not have adequate learning and mentorship in academic emergency medicine and patient care. ACEE provides a unique and comprehensive platform for all those in training. The journey to become a fellow of ACEE is a rigorous process of monthly tests and intense reading which produces competent and confident emergency physicians who care for the patients. One should not fall into the trap of fake groups who resort to shortcuts and unfair means to lure membership for monetary and other goals. I strongly recommend FACEE (Fellowship of Academic College of Emergency Experts in India) to all the physicians and emergency medicine residents in India with genuine interest in Emergency Medicine. #PathACEE

I was the Charter Fellow of Academic College of Emergency Experts in 2014, As a faculty, I got in touch with Dr. Sagar Galwankar, CEO of Academic College of Emergency Medicine in India in one of the meetings at All India Institute of Medical Sciences in the year 2009, where I was nominated to represent Department of Pediatrics from our Institute.
The Fellowship Process opened my eyes. We were managing the children separately in pediatric emergency, but a robust triage was non-existent, trauma was untouched and pediatric residents were afraid of even minor trauma cases like zipper injuries and nursemaid's elbow. FACEE is an Honorable self-learning pathway which provides ample opportunity to develop cognitive functions. The Five Days of intense review helped me develop skills in ultrasound, line placement, suturing and splinting, and simulations. Today the wave of developing PEM is growing. Many Pediatricians are adopting to be career academicians in PEM. We want to bring DM/ DNB in PEM.
Recently I published a paper on 'Procalcitonin as Predictor of Bacterial Infection in Neonates with Meconium Aspiration Syndrome’ in American Journal of Perinatology. Thesis work supervised by me for my post graduate student Dr. Anand Narayan was awarded the "Best research paper" for the year 2018 in PEDICON, the National conference of Pediatrics held at Nagpur 2018. My postgraduate student Dr. Ramitha Bhatt also presented research project in WACEM, Srilanka, on Shock Index, which was very well appreciated.
My efforts were well recognized and I was awarded the "Kelly P O'Keefe Academician and Researcher of the Year 2017” Award at World Academic Congress of Emergency Medicine' 2017 at Colombo, Srilanka. Being a Fellow of ACEE opens doors to opportunities which help you grow as a Physician and a Leader. Speaking at International Meetings, Debating with International Experts and Researching with Global Innovators are just some of these opportunities.

FACEE has been a journey of lifetime for me where I met my mentors Dr. Sagar Galwankar and Dr. Sanjeev Bhoi. I saw a whole new world where young and old share the same passion for not just emergency and trauma but also teaching and research. FACEE gave me confidence to go out and reach to administrators and politicians for establishment of Emergency Medicine as a specialty in my State of Himachal Pradesh.
As MBBS students or Medicine residents we are not taught handling of Emergencies and FACEE takes us to a whole new level. Meeting international faculty during the annual meets exposes us to the galaxy of experts in EM who teach by their experience. Mentorship by such eminent persons in this field is a rare opportunity provided by FACEE to all of us. I feel proud to be a part of EMA India, INDUSEM and now WACEM.
Today I am an Award Winning, International Conference Speakership Bestowed, Editor of an International EM Journal with multiple publications, citations and Public Health achievements to my credit. This credit is not mine but of ACEE. This credit is not mine but the leadership grooming provided to me by ACEE.
